Lovely designed golf course just no golfers?

Needs complete renovation, looks like some has started but been abandoned. Staff tried but not enough of them particularly in the restaurant and they didn't really seem to have experience in hospitality. And to top it all I came home covered in bites.... possibly bed bugs. Wouldn't recommend.

Called in the morning before booking and asked for the pool information, just to find out the info was not correct... when booking a child they only accept them as Adult but then have pool times and dates restrictions... sent an email had no reply... spoke to duty manager and he said it was impossible I spoken to someone in the morning (until he seen it on my phone) rude and in need of some training in customer care... the rooms corridor are in desperate need of some update

Rooms quite large and fairly comfortable. Had dinner which was ok but not worthy of the price tag as budget food used but premium prices charged. On 1st morning breakfast was sparce with only cereal and toast as continental options but good selection of cooked items available to order. Breakfast on 2nd morning was same for continental but self service for full English - long delays for food to be replenished and coffee not refilled. The swimming pool area was undergoing some work so not very inviting. The hotel is quite tired but appears to be undergoing some improvements. The golf course looked lovely and well looked after although golfers turning up at 7am and talking outside bedroom windows was annoying 😑 on the whole not bad value for money and staff very friendly and helpful!

Please put all children on ground floor, we had what sounded like a kindergarden above us,,, rooms look refurbished, after being used as detention centre, golf course is good, gym is good.. nice place, clean, tidy,, just need bit of finishing, good location

The hotel was clean and tidy, the staff were pleasant, efficient and helpful but it did feel that something was missing. Their was no 'life' in the place, no atmosphere. It appeared that the whole place was awaiting renewal, and if that is the case it will be absolutely superb. The Lakes golf course is a prime example, loads of opportunity to be lovely but unkempt and unloved. It does seem that things are beginning to be done, ponds being dug out anew and markers on some of the greens but no signage to let people know what's going on. C'mon guys.

Very basic hotel, the shower smelt damp and musty, there was no plug or phone sockets near the bed, but it was clean. We also had 3 rooms one each end of the first floor, and the other on the ground floor, also there wasn't a lift and we had 2 young children and a pushchair.

For me, the location wasn't ideal as my sat nav kept directing me along every possible B route. However, overall, the location was satisfactory. I am very methodical and like to use my time efficiently. Therefore, I was pleased with how quickly the onsite team responded to my requests. The spa was somewhat disappointing, but the gym is definitely worth visiting. I don't play golf, so I can't comment on the course. The dinners (in my opinion) were overpriced for what they were, with limited food choices and limited dinner times. Maybe add a few healthy options to the menu as they may be appreciated by the more health concious guests. However, the hotel was more than happy for me to purchase a meal from an external restaurant and eat it on site. On a personal note: I did find a few spiders in my room. I would recommend that the hotel clean the rooms more thoroughly between guests and use some spider repellent. The TV wasn't tuned in correctly (all channels seemed to be 801 to 899), so it was annoying whenever I wanted to change channels. Maybe. Purchase some cheap smart TVs or tune in the ones that are onsite correctly.

This venue has so much potential. But sadly is in desperate need of updating. Used their conference facilities on a really hot day but the air-conditioning wasn't working. Only had one projector and screen for use in two rooms. Bedroom was clean. Though the bed wasn't very comfortable. It was clearly under staffed, as my bedroom wasn't ready until after 5.30pm. The list of improvements I could suggest is lengthy. If the owners or managers just made some small changes, it would greatly enhance anyone's stay here. Unable to comment on the golf course. But enjoyed the use of the pool.

If you are into golfing then this is the place for you. For weekend getaways it was slightly disappointing. The steam room was closed, the sauna wasn't working and there were no loungers to relax in. That said the pool is a good size and the jacuzzi was fine. The bat is well stocked so had a good time there with lots of comfortable seating :-) Food was also good. Very tasty dinner and ample choice for breakfast (hot/cold/English Breakfast.etc.)

A friend and I visited yesterday in order to use the spa facilities. It is lovely to be able to move from spa facilities straight into the swimming pool without having to traverse corridors, etc., but the facilities themselves leave a little bit to be desired... the steam room is unavailable, as is the shower for when one comes out of the sauna. The sauna was not particularly hot, ditto the jacuzzi/spa tub. The alcohol prices are obviously subsidised. However, 2 small bottles of coke cost more than half a cider and a shot of J.D. 🤷🏽‍♀️

BOYCOTT! Currently migrant hotel who are turning away paying customers. Such a shame that it is being destroyed by the migrants. Housing illegal immigrants upto new year for greed. Stopped here for business loads of times but never again.

If you have a wedding booked here cancel now and find somewhere else,booked our wedding here for March 2023 here a year and a half ago , first the commutation was terrible never got any reply after paying the deposit and could never get hold of anyone, went in and had to meet with someone different everytime and go though detail for the wedding about 5 times as people kept on leavin, went though about 6 different people , was promised hotel rooms as have guests out of town, then heard what was going on there rang them up,this was just 3 months before the wedding to be told that there will be no rooms for us, and was on about a bus to take guests to another hotel , they were not gona tell us this so glad a rang , cancelled there and then and found somewhere 1000 times better and treats us better, and got a full refund of what we had already payed,never been though so much stress.

We've been members on and off for over 12 years and never had a problem joining after a break. Depite my wife being a member they wanted a £200 joining fee and to increase what we were previously paying by £20 a month. They promised to check but never called back or returned calls. Shame, nice gym, shocking service.

Rooms are not the nicest, considering what you can get nearby for less, there was no hot water in any of the rooms, nobody seemed bothered when I reported the problem until I asked for my money back because I wasn't happy with the room and service, was told I would get my money back, but never have received it

Golf Course open but everything shut, no range, no pro-shop, one person on the reception that will make the coffee..pretty disappointing

Booked as a gift for Godson, the hotel has since cancelled as they received a better offer from elsewhere leaving us high and last minute. Pretty sure that's not how hotels are supposed to work. Seems there will be a few guests in this situation. No attempt at an apology or reparations. Abysmal.

Rooms are very outdated and being on the ground floor, you can hear everything that is going on upstairs, lots of footsteps. Not bad for it's price, we went to the bar to get a drink and no one turned up so we left after about 10 minutes waiting. I've stayed here a number of times and nothing seems to improve.

Spa facilities awful and not working! Staff (reception) were not friendly at all. Wont be going back!
